Participatory interactivity is all about people coming together and collaborating to create a multimedia experience. And if that experience is a big spectacle – it’s just all the more fun.
The best is when people can clearly see a direct relationship between their actions and the evolution of the spectacle.
For example, in 2011 we helped create a 30-foot Christmas tree that would light up more and more as Christmas messages were shared online. Everyone’s role mattered, and at its peak, it was like Toronto’s Union station was glowing, well, at least the tree inside:)
What do we love about participatory interactivity? It draws people back into public spaces for the kind of emotional engagement you just can’t get at home!
